On the afternoon of December 1, Ms. Kate Rojkov, Director of Human Resources Division of Management Department of International Atomic Energy Agency andWang Jianping, Program officer of International Cooperation Department of China Atomic Energy Agency visited Tsinghua University, and had an informal discussion with teachers and students of our university. Meng Bo, Deputy Dean of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Tsinghua University, and Jin Leili, Deputy Director of Career Development Center of Tsinghua University, met Kate Rojkov and communicated with them about promoting in-depth cooperation in talent cultivation in the future.

Meng Bo extended a warm welcome to the visiting of Ms. Kate Rojkov et al., briefly introduced the general situation of the university, mainly described the university’s work in international cooperation, cultivation of international students, the global strategy et al. and put forward a wish that both sides will constantly go deep into and institutionalize the cooperation in student internship and employment, talent training, academic research, etc. According to Kate Rojkov, International Atomic Energy Agency attaches great importance to excellent talents, takes a proactive and open attitude toward enhancing cooperation with Tsinghua University, warmly welcomes excellent talents from Tsinghua University to join, and hopes to continuously expand multi-field cooperation with Tsinghua University.
Afterwards, Ms. Kate Rojkov had an informal discussion with dozens of students from relevant departments. She mainly introduced the relations between International Atomic Energy Agency and the United Nations, as well as the work objectives, department settings, staff composition, working condition et al. of International Atomic Energy Agency. Li Zhijuan, Recruiting Assistant of Human Resources Department of IAEA, gave a detailed description about the talent recruitment conditions of different departments of IAEA, Junior Professional Program, Internship program and talent selection criteria. She also briefly introduced the internship of college graduates in IAEA.

Students also asked questions such as IAEA’s requirements toward the research experience of candidates, how to take the first step of applying for a job in an international organization, and the career development path of staff in IAEA and so on, and had an interaction with guests.
More than 30 students from Department of Engineering Physics, Department of Energy and Power Engineering, Institute of Nuclear And New Energy Technology, as well as Student Association for Global Governance and International Organizations participated in the event.

Introduction to International Atomic Energy Agency:
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA for short) is an independent intergovernmental institution that has established relations with the United Nations with the member countries engaged in science and technology cooperation in the field of atomic energy with each other. In December 1954, the Ninth Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations passed a resolution to set up an international institution dedicated to peaceful use of atomic energy. In October of 1957, IAEA held the first plenary meeting and announced its formal establishment. The mission of IAEA is to seek to accelerate the contribution of atomic energy to peace, health and prosperity of the world, and ensure that the assistance provided by the institution itself, at the request of the institution or under supervision and control of the institution is not used to promote any military purpose. Since its inception, IAEA has signed comprehensive safeguard supervision agreements and individual safeguard agreements with more than 140 countries and regional organizations in the field of safeguard supervision, and concluded and signed voluntary safeguard agreements with nuclear-armed countries respectively.
