Lecture and Workshop
Career guidance lectures and workshops are conducted by the Student Career Development Association of Tsinghua University (hereinafter referred to as "Career Association") through three excellence programs: Career Counseling Month, Career Lecture and Job Search Workshop. Before each event, the Career Development Center and the Career Association will post a notification on the Career Development Center's homepage, or display boards and posters on both sides of the main road, so students are welcome to participate!
Career Guidance Month.
Tsinghua University Career Guidance Month was established in March 2005 to provide focused career counseling activities from multiple perspectives, and has now conducted a total of nearly 450 large-scale career counseling activities. The month is divided into self-awareness section, energy industry awareness section, consulting industry awareness section, finance industry awareness section and career lecture section. Career counseling month carries out counseling activities with the theme of industry awareness, and helps students understand their own characteristics and determine the direction of job search through various forms such as lectures and seminars. During the job-seeking season, the counseling month also focuses on job-seeking skills counseling, such as resume writing, interview skills and job-seeking etiquette, inviting guests from HR departments of well-known companies such as BP, Sinochem and Johnson & Johnson to conduct career guidance for students.
Career Seminar
The "Career Seminar" is an important career guidance brand program of Tsinghua University Career Development Center.
We invite influential and successful people from famous enterprises to share Tsinghua students about career development, including the development of enterprises, the current development of China's industry and the demand for talents, the planning of personal career goals, how to exercise leadership and the big picture, the road to entrepreneurship and so on.
Compared with other activities in Career Guidance Month, the outstanding advantage of "Career Seminar" is that it has wide audience and great influence on campus. Many enterprises have launched large-scale recruitment activities on campus, and the main information that students obtain is limited to foreign companies or local high-tech, IT and other new industries, while a large number of students in Tsinghua, especially those studying traditional science and engineering courses, are confused in career planning due to the lack of understanding in their respective fields . The "Career Seminar" series of activities aims to guide students to establish ambitious ideals, help them clarify the direction of career development, and help more Tsinghua students make the most suitable career choice for their personal development.
Job Search Workshop.
The Job Search Workshop is a large series of career counseling activities for all students in the university, aiming to effectively improve their job search ability. Since the spring semester of 2011, all the activities of the Job Search Workshop series have been held in the form of personalized guidance in workshops, basically guaranteeing one session every week throughout the whole semester, realizing regular career counselling andsupplementing the gaps of optional classes and large-scale activities with personalized, small-scale and targeted counseling.
The job search workshop mainly invites employment assistant teachers and career professionals from different faculties as guests to provide students with guidance on resume writing, mock interviews and workplace image design. In the fall semester of 2015-2016, 25 job search workshops were held, with a total of more than 1,000 students being served.
Tsinghua University Student Career Development Association
Tsinghua University Student Career Development Association is a student organization established on its own initiative under the care of Tsinghua University Committee of the Communist Youth League, Tsinghua University Career Development Center and Tsinghua University Graduate Committee of the Communist Youth League, and receives direct guidance from Tsinghua University Committee of the Communist Youth League and Tsinghua University Career Development Center. Founded in December 2003, the association now has 200 core members and its activities gather nearly 10,000 participants cumulatively. Since its establishment, Tsinghua University Student Career Development Association has been committed to helping every Tsinghua student discover their career interests and harvest their ideal career, and has become one of the largest and most influential student associations in Tsinghua University. In 2004, the association was awarded the title of "Best New Student Association in Tsinghua University" and "Top 10 Associations in Tsinghua University" for 11 consecutive years from 2005 to 2015.
As one of the earliest student career development associations in the national universities, over the years, the association has provided quality career counseling and career planning education resources for students both on and off campus, while assisting the university to complete a number of tasks such as employment research, construction of job search and career planning class groups, construction of job search online classes, career planning individual counseling and counseling and organization of seminars, job fairs and employment work seminars, and the association itself has been developing and growing. Under the guidance of Tsinghua University Career Development Center, the association has cooperated with many friendly people from the government, enterprises, universities and other institutions and held many influential activities, which have been widely praised by students inside and outside the university. In this academic year, based on the original career guidance month, career coach program and career counseling service of grassroots class groups, the association has forged ahead and developed large-scale activities such as Tsinghua University Mock Interview Invitational Competition and Job Hunting Workshop to meet the requirements of career counseling services for students in colleges and universities in the new era with its innovative working mode.
