Arabic Copy Editors [Beijing]
Job Description
The China News for World Service Department and the International News Departent of Xinhua News Agency aim to present a real China to a global audience, providing a better understanding of today’s China, and offering a Chinese perspective on world news. The two editorial departments are seeking English copy editors, French copy editors and Arabic copy editors for their newsrooms in Beijing. The positions come with a minimum one-year contract.
Job Responsibilities
English copy editors and French copy editors
1. Copy edit news stories, articles, television scripts, and new media products written by Chinese journalists and copy editors
2. Assisting in providing professional training to Chinese journalists and copy editors
3. Ability to work alternating day/ afternoon/ night shifts + rotating weekend shift (12-8 p.m.)
Arabic editors
1.Translating/editing/ proofreading/polishing news stories, articles, vedio scripts, and new media products from English to Arabic & from Arabic to English.
2.Writing/Producing creative and interesting articles, vedio scripts, and new media products in Arabic & English, for all platforms on the website, social media & videos.
3.Quickly collecting and analyzing information about events through research, interviews, experience or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions.
4.Offering suggestions on topics of stories and how to improve news writing in Arabic.
5.work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions, and work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions.
6.Assisting in providing professional training to Chinese journalists and editors.
7.Other assignments from the editorial desk such as presenting on Camera and dubbing.
8.Based in Beijing.
Required Qualifications
English copy editors
1. Native English speaker with excellent writing skills
2. BA degree or above, journalism experiences
3. Good team player
French copy editors
1. Native French speaker and fluent in English.
2. BA degree or above, journalism experiences
3. Good team player
Arabic copy editors
1. Native Arabic speaker and fluent in English.
2.Age: under 45.
3. BA degree or above, journalism experiences
4.Good team player
5.Ability to work alternating day/ afternoon/ night shifts + rotating weekend shift.
